God of the Details

It generally takes me a while to get into the spirit of Christmas.   Like many who lose a loved one during the holidays, the memory of my father’s short battle with cancer 16 years ago at this time before his death in January 1997 tends to weigh on my general enthusiasm.   For the last several years, my father-in-law’s rapid decline in his health has become obvious to us all.    And those two significant events overshadow the general busy-ness and everyday stresses that are all a part of being a family.   But in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the season, I stay inspired by the one family tradition that my husband and I hold dear: the telling of the Christmas story.

Read more about why I treasure this holiday tradition here in this month’s contribution to Joy Comes in the Morning.  Be blessed, dear friends.
